Corporate Governance
Mitel maintains a Design for the Environment (DfE) program, which actively seeks to reduce the environmental impact of our products through documented design objectives and targets for each new product. The program is tailored to meet the Mitel design community's specific needs, and is based on CSA Guideline Z762-95 "Design for the Environment", as well as ECMA standard ECMA-341.
ISO 14001 Certification
Within our business, we have adopted environmentally conscious processes and standards that extend from senior executives to each employee to our suppliers. The 14000 series ISO standards focus on corporate objectives, targets, and metrics supporting the reduction of the impact of corporate activities on the environment. Mitel has been ISO 14001 certified since 1999 and we insist that our contract manufacturers be certified as well. Most of the semiconductor parts we use come from large multinational companies that are also ISO 14001 certified.
Mitel’s commitment to the environment is articulated in our Environmental Policy. We strive to continuously improve upon our product design, lower power consumption, better handled waste management, and lower our carbon emissions.

Supply Chain
Mitel ensures products and services are sourced from suppliers committed to environmental management through a defined environmental policy (registered to ISO 14001) or registration to BSEN ISO 14001.
Hazardous Materials
Mitel IP sets and controllers contain lower levels of harmful chemicals including lead, mercury, hexavalent chromium, cadmium, polybrominated biphenyl (PBB), and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardants. As a result, these products are RoHS compliant. Our United Kingdom location is WEEE (waste electrical and electronic equipment) compliant.
Mitel Corporate Headquarters in Canada has implemented a comprehensive recycling program to ensure the diversion of up to 65 percent of our waste from day-to-day operations.
