Incoming voice traffic, for example, was previously handled by a Norstar key system which lacked SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) and remote teleworker support along with the flexibility to extract call record data.

Sajus wanted to migrate to a new open standards-based PBX solution in order to reduce communications costs, leverage its in-house programming skills and integrate mission-critical telephone system data with business process management software.

“We were looking for a communications platform
that would integrate with our current hardware and infrastructure to keep costs low and implementation simple,” said Steven Clarke, President, Sajus Technologies. “We were also very interested in leveraging some of the new feature capabilities of an IP-based service – including self provisioning of staff extensions and visual voicemail.”

After exploring several different options to suit its specific business needs, Sajus worked with Aastra, who recommended that Sajus participate as a member of the AastraLink Pro Beta program.After thoroughly reviewing its IT infrastructure, Sajus determined that the AastraLink Pro solution would be an ideal, cost-effective system with a very quick payback and return on investment.

The Solution

The standards-based AastraLink Pro solution enables companies like Sajus to quickly get the Aastra SIP phones up and running by simply plugging them into
an existing LAN (Local Area Network) – without hidden user and application license costs or the need of an on site installation technician. AastraLink Pro seamlessly integrates with existing infra-structure and functions as a PBX within the enterprise – allowing Sajus employees to directly dial internal extensions via the Voice over IP (VoIP) network. “Imple- menting and deploying AastraLink Pro across the company took us less than a few hours. The Results

 Sajus is using AastraLink Pro to ease complexity and improve governance by streamlining its telecom services. In addition to standard PBX/key system features and functionality, Sajus now also has access to a host of new IP-based services – including find me/follow me, auto discovering and self provisioning of extensions, visual voicemail, SIP trunking and support for remote teleworkers.

Networking, Teleworking and Scalability

AastraLink Pro is also flexible enough to grow along with Sajus as it can host up to 50 extensions when SIP trunking is used, and up to nine AastraLink Pro systems can be linked together via IP to create a WAN linked multi site office environment. Remote staff working from home can simply take an auto discovered AastraLink SIP phone and plug it into their UPnP enabled home network and be seamlessly connected to the office. In fact, Steven Clarke has done it!
