Customer Success Story: Illinois Wesleyan University
Illinois Wesleyan University (IWU) is an independent undergraduate liberal arts college located in Bloomington, Illinois, United States. Founded in 1850, the school has 2000 students and around 600 staff.
The university faced the kind of communication challenge many organizations fear—their existing PBX phone system was discontinued by the manufacturer. In considering new options, the university wanted to leverage advanced features that their old system didn’t offer, like hot desking and dynamic extension for mobile staff. IWU had also deployed VMware and wanted to leverage that investment.
So IWU engaged with Mitel partner Frontier Communications and sales rep Shana Mallin. The university looked at many solutions and found that not only was Mitel best suited to meet their current requirements, but offered the best solution to help them manage their projected future needs.
IWU implemented 873 licenses of Mitel MiVoice and MiCollab, including chat and conferencing. The Frontier Communication project management team led weekly calls until the completion of the project while their local technician led the implementation team.
Originally, IWU had planned on a phased approach to implementing their Mitel solutions. Because the implementation went so well, IWU accelerated implementation and moved their entire system over in two months and has been very pleased with it since. One of IWU’s favorite technologies is Mitel conferencing.
“We brought our conferencing solution in house which saves on conferencing costs. Our Telecommunications Office is a one-person office and the administration of the Mitel solution is one that you can hit the ground running with instead of spending weeks trying to figure it out. Changes can be done quickly and easily.” said Linda Biehl, Telecommunications System Specialist for Illinois WesleyanUniversity.
