Enterprise Connect Day 1

Well! We now have the first day of Enterprise Connect under our belt. The annual communications and collaboration conference is one of the biggest and best in North America. The annual conference is held here at the Gaylord Palms Hotel and Convention Center in Kissimmee, Florida. All the big vendors are here – including Mitel (Booth #1405). Even on the first day, there were a lot of different things to take in – from meet and greets, to product demonstrations, to what’s hot in the industry with WebRTC (real-time collaboration over HTML5 and Java) – it’s action-packed!

Using Mitel Unified Communicator® Advanced (UCA) in-flight.

My day started out in an exciting way – even before I got here to Orlando. I was surprised that I could get Wi-Fi on the airplane down from Buffalo. It was great to get connected and even better to get instant collaboration access to my entire team via Mitel Unified Communicator® Advanced (UCA). Once I got connected, I instantly brought up UCA and started working. I was able to communicate and collaborate with my entire team – even though I was 42,000 feet in the air. I was able to chat with my co-workers as if they were right in the office next to me and could even check their online status / presence. For the first time since I started my career, I stepped off a plane and did not have 50+ emails awaiting my reply. I had processed a few customer orders and assisted two customers with technical inquiries. All and all, it was a pretty amazing way to travel.

Once I arrived at Enterprise Connect (#EC13 for those on Twitter), the event was absolutely jumping. The Expo floor opened up just as I got here, so I was quick to head down to the floor and see the latest and greatest products and services. The Expo is definitely one of the best parts of the event.

While on the Expo floor, I had time to check out a couple of booths today (I easily could have spent more time there). There is a lot going on at the Mitel booth (#1405) – from virtualization, to hosting, to contact center – it’s all here. With only a few minutes left at the Expo tonight, I got a hands-on preview of the Mitel NetSolutions offering here in the U.S. For customers looking for a hosted solution, Mitel has a real winner with the NetSolutions and Mitel AnyWareoffering. It was great to see how Mitel stacked up to the competition. I was definitely impressed with what I saw – and how easy it all is.

Tomorrow is bound to be even more fun as Mitel’s Stephen Brown takes to the stage to talk about Mitel’s cloud-based offering. Also, Mitel is offering Enterprise Connect attendees a chance to win a flying drone – check this video out for a sneak peak. You can stop by the Mitel booth to enter the draw, and to see demonstrations of their great offerings.

I’m looking forward to the next few days and all that Enterprise Connect has to offer – stay tuned for more updates!
