Businesses Boost the Bottom Line with Mitel

Report verifies that Mitel Unified Communications Solutions are amongst the most energy efficient in the industry

The testing was commissioned by Mitel and conducted in October 2008 to examine the Mitel 3300 IP Communications Platform (ICP) and a selection of Mitel IP phones.

Based on three typical business implementations, The Tolly Group test results demonstrated that the Mitel Unified Communications Solutions require as little as  3,885 watts to support IP controllers and phones across a large 1,500-user network; 1,237 watts for a multi-site medium 350-employee network; and just 181 watts to support a small 65-user office.

These numbers equate into large savings for the customer. For example, compared to similar tests of competitors’ solutions conducted by The Tolly Group, Mitel Unified Communications Solutions consume up to 62 percent less power.

Additionally, when comparing mid-range phone sets, Mitel only consumes 2.4 watts versus similarly featured competitor's phones typically ranging from 3.1 to 6.0 watts or higher. These power savings directly impact the bottom line as phones are generally responsible for two-thirds of the power consumption for standard telephony systems.

As mentioned in the report the impact of reduced power consumption across the data and communication infrastructure also includes lower costs for cooling and higher phone density per POE (Power over Ethernet) Layer 2 switch.
