ShoreTel continues to grow at an astonishing rate. Recently I was asked why we are seeing such a strong growth. One reason is because we are delivering the capabilities our customers are requesting. When customers asked for integration with the Microsoft unified communications (UC) offering, we answered with a brilliantly simple solution.

ShoreTel addresses the multi-level requirements needed to integrate Microsoft UC products with an IP telephony system by leveraging its distributed architecture, relying on industry-standard interfaces and continuously improving our existing APIs.

The ShoreTel UC system can be combined with one or more elements of the Microsoft UC portfolio, from Office Communication Server and Exchange in the data center to Office Communicator and Outlook on the desktop. With the most flexible integration options in the industry, the ShoreTel business communications system can extend and enhance our customer’s Microsoft UC investment.

This isn’t merely theory. Customers like Conceptus, a leading Silicon Valley medical device company that designs, develops, and distributes innovative medical products for women, were eager for just this type of solution. With business expanding and the Versailles office opening up, the medical device company wanted to ensure seamless and reliable business communications among staff and with customers.

They turned to their partner H3G Group and ShoreTel for a unified communications solution. The ShoreTel system was seamlessly integrated with Microsoft products wherever possible, including Microsoft Office Communication Server, Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Exchange. As a result, integration is transparent for users. Conceptus now offers their employees presence, instant messaging, voice, fax, email, voicemail and conferencing over any device with exceptional flexibility and plug-and-play simplicity. Other benefits have included:

  • Deep integration between the ShoreTel system and Microsoft OCS and Exchange
  • Greater communication choices for field and office staff, resulting in accessibility and productivity gains.
  • Reduced conferencing costs by 50 percent or $30,000 annually, due to ShoreTel’s efficiency and ease of operation with webinars, screen shares, virtual roundtables and voice sessions.
“ShoreTel is a serious player because of the level of integration with our existing Microsoft OSC implementation. Having that layer of integration capabilities to provide for unified communications at a seamless level was very important to us.” - Eric Simmons, Director of IT Operations & ERP Systems at Conceptus

Digital transformation has become a top initiative for business and IT leaders. In today’s business world, sustainable market leadership is no longer based solely on which company has the best products or even the best people. Instead, organizations that are agile and can quickly adapt to rapidly evolving market trends will become market leaders.
