School’s out for summer. And for one Wisconsin School District, this meant graduating from the complexity of Cisco to the Brilliant Simplicity of a ShoreTel system.
Kaukauna Area School District provides education for close to 4,200 students across four elementary schools, one middle school and one high school. Supporting the school district’s communications requirements were more than 600 telephones, a four-year-old leased Cisco VoIP system and a relatively modern network infrastructure. When the school district needed to update its VoIP service Cisco declined to give the district a timely buyout option, so they decided to consider other options.
The school district evaluated all the major UC players but chose ShoreTel because of the significant cost savings and because it would guarantee seamless interoperability with all the switching gear and network operation and. In fact, with ShoreTel they are now saving $22,000 a year over what they paid with Cisco. “With ShoreTel, we’ve been able to cut 25 percent in our annual costs, and we have an option to buy the gear outright for one dollar after the fifth year. It’s a win-win for the school district,” said Bob Summers, IT Manager, Kaukauna Area School District.
Another thing that has impressed the school district is with the how easy it is now for employees to collaborate with the unified desktop productivity tools, full integration with existing applications and improved and expedited call handling.
