Upgrade Mobility Client When You Upgrade to iOS 7

    You may have heard that Apple’s long awaited, much anticipated iOS 7 was unleashed unto all eager iDevice users today.

    This is the next major release for iOS devices (iPhone, iPad, iPad mini and iPod touch) – heralding significant changes to the both the appearance and backend operations for many aspects of the product and is being launched in conjunction with the new iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C.

    And with it, come the slew of upgrades for your favorite apps to ensure a continuance of compatibility with the newly released Apple iOS 7. This includes ShoreTel Mobility.

    Due to changes in how the operating system enables applications to identify a unique device in the new iOS release, ShoreTel Mobility 7.0 does not function properly with iOS 7 as it (and older clients) used the MAC address as the unique Device ID, which is not accessible in iOS 7. The available upgrade now utilizes a new API for determining the unique Device ID.

    There is a very simple solution:

    Upgrade to the ShoreTel Mobility 7.1 for iOS client either before or immediately after upgrading to iOS 7. Users will then need to re-provision their ShoreTel Mobility client, which can be accessed from Settings > Advanced > Provisioning in the ShoreTel Mobility application.

    (Please note: To ensure users can successfully re-provision existing devices, administrators should verify that “Prevent users from changing devices by re-provisioning” is unchecked on the ShoreTel Mobility Router (SMR). This setting is available via Configuration > Groups and Users > Groups > User Options > Provisioning.)
