In advance of Canada Day, I wanted to share a story about one of our customer’s to our north who said no to the status quo.

The Winnipeg Convention Centre is located in the center of downtown Winnipeg, in the Manitoba Province of Canada. Built in 1975, the convention center boasts 160,000 square feet of meeting, banquet and exhibition space, and the staff and services are renowned for their highest quality and commitment to excellence.

To get in front of rising cell phone usage costs and equip convention center staff with better coverage, Winnipeg began looking into potential mobility solutions. The initial requirements for a unified mobile communications platform were interoperability with the existing Mitel PBX system, better Wi-Fi coverage and performance, and greater cost efficiencies.

Winnipeg Convention Centre selected ShoreTel Mobility to integrate with their existing PBX system, existing DID numbers, and smartphones for simpler cost-efficient mobility capabilities.

The benefits of ShoreTel Mobility have included:

  • Predictability of costly cell phone airtime charges and monthly ongoing expenses
  • Flexibility for leveraging existing and future investments
  • More choice for how to interact and improve staff productivity

“In the hospitality business, big changes can occur in a moment. Being able to communicate quickly in the ways that best suit the situation allows us to better service our customers on a more timely basis. ShoreTel Mobility helps us to be successful every day.”

- Harvey Cohen, Manager of Information Services, Winnipeg Convention Centre

Digital transformation has become a top initiative for business and IT leaders. In today’s business world, sustainable market leadership is no longer based solely on which company has the best products or even the best people. Instead, organizations that are agile and can quickly adapt to rapidly evolving market trends will become market leaders.
