Greetings readers! For those in the Northern Hemisphere, June marked the official start of summer and a prime opportunity for many of us to unplug and relax. Whether that involves a trip to the beach, a hike in the mountains, or just a ride around the neighborhood, we hope your summer plans involve good company, good weather, and perhaps a well-timed visit to your favorite ice cream stop (mint chip, please)!
Beyond dreams of the perfect summer break, June brought a wide range of news and views from Mitel. We announced that our Virtual Care Collaboration Service (VCCS) will be available in more markets, wrapped up our 2024 Mitel Next events with stops in Spain and Germany, and highlighted partners investing in industry-specific expertise. As more people head back to the office, at least part of the time, we look at how modern UC solutions can make hybrid work successful. We also highlight a discussion our new CISO joined on risky cybersecurity habits that aren’t as innocent as they may seem.
Ok, let’s get to the news!

It was a noteworthy month for Mitel’s telehealth communications platform, VCCS. Not only was it named Virtual Workspace Platform of the Year by RemoteTech Breakthrough, but we also announced it would be available in seven new European markets, including the UK, France, and Spain. Several industry publications, including UC Today and Channel Life, picked up on the news. This article from Comms Business outlines how VCCS helps improve efficiencies and deliver better patient-centric care.
At Mitel, we love celebrating our partners, and Mitel Next events for DACH and our International regions over the past month gave us a perfect opportunity to do just that. Top-performing partners from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland received their hardware during a ceremony in Cologne, Germany. As Digitalisation World highlights in this article, international partners were honored at a gala event in Barcelona, Spain.
We also spotlighted North American partners last month when we announced vertical specializations for 2024. This distinction is given to partners who deeply understand unique sector needs. Channel Future’s Moshe Beauford recapped the news in this article and shared a partner’s perspective on Mitel’s approach to valued verticals, like healthcare.
It has been an exciting 2024 for Mitel, and six months in is a natural time to reflect on the year to date. In this Q&A with TechTarget’s Microscope, Simon Skellon, our head of international region, expands on how the Unify acquisition is benefiting partners and customers, outlines our new portfolio strategy, and looks at where the unified communications (UC) industry is headed as we enter the second half of 2024.
More people might be returning to the office, but that doesn’t mean remote work is disappearing. As our CTO Luiz Domingos writes, the hybrid work model remains very popular, and modern UC solutions are uniquely placed to help bridge the gap between those working in-office and those working off-site or from home.
That mandatory cybersecurity training you’ve been putting off is more than just checking a box. Employees play a critical role in protecting their organizations from cyber threats, and simple measures can go a long way toward keeping evolving schemes at bay. Mitel’s CISO Bill Dunnion contributed to this column on the often-overlooked cybersecurity risks that can have significant consequences.
As always, thanks for reading. Remember to check out the Mitel newsroom throughout the month for all our news articles.
