Mitel Unifies Communications for Flemish Environment Agency

Mitel® (Nasdaq:MITL) (TSX:MNW), a leading provider of cloud and premises based unified communications software solutions, today announced that the Flemish Environment Agency (VMM) is rolling out the Mitel Communications Director (MCD) platform across its thirteen offices. VMM is an agency of the Flemish Government with a mandate to sustain the environment in Flanders. The deployment of the new communication system, implemented and managed by Mitel partner Inia, has been designed to save the government money, simplify management and enhance communication and collaboration for the agency's 1,000 employees.

VMM's upgrade was driven partly in response to growing demand from employees for tools that provide increased mobility and better collaboration with colleagues regardless of their location. By replacing its legacy communication platform with the advanced capabilities of the MCD platform, VMM employees can more easily and cost effectively work together across the agency.

Wim De Block, VMM's system administrator for the project, commented: "The way people work has changed a lot over the past several years. Flexibility and mobility are increasingly becoming critical to communications across our organization, and will continue to grow. By simply moving our phone calls onto an internet phone platform, the Mitel solution will enable us to collaborate more efficiently and also allow us to save on telephony expenses."

Built on Mitel's core communications software platform, MCD delivers a highly flexible, feature-rich IP telephony system that is scalable and simple to manage, and responds to IT's demand for streamlined and centralized communications management. In addition to MCD, VMM will use Mitel Unified Communicator Advanced and Mitel Collaboration Advanced applications which will give VMM employees insight in the accessibility and availability of colleagues, and provides audio conferencing, instant messaging and web collaboration capabilities.
