MiCollab Update 9.7 SP1: Simplifying the UC Experience

Unified communications. If you pardon the telephony pun, it has a nice ring. The trouble is that unified communications (UC) usually means that a vendor has unified their communications products into a single solution; customers might only use some of the communications solutions offered.

Microsoft Teams, for example, is marketed as a UC solution. This would be fine if Teams were your only voice or video platform, but it probably isn’t. We’ve found that about 80% of organizations use multiple voice, video, and UC platforms, including Teams, Zoom, or RingCentral. To the customers who use Mitel's MiCollab solution, it's easy to see how UC is no longer unified.

Customers and industry knowledge workers alike have shared the same challenges they face when using UC solutions:

  • It’s too complicated to toggle between video applications.
  • Voice quality is inconsistent depending on the network, device, or app.
  • Simple features like speakerphones are hard to find during a live call.

And so on.

We decided to address many of these challenges with the new release of MiCollab 9.7 SP1: we've made a simple change to bring all the meeting applications together.

Experience Smoother Collaboration with MiCollab 9.7 SP1

MiCollab Solution Overview

Now it doesn’t matter whether you use Teams, Zoom, RingCentral, or any other video meeting provider like Vsee, Teledoc, or Tixeo.

We've integrated the ability to select an alternative meeting provider as default. Within MiCollab’s one-button launch, the meeting function opens your provider of choice; soon, we will introduce a one-button selector so that users can choose multiple meeting providers.

Besides combining our customers’ communications applications in one place, we focused on other challenges raised.

Quickly Access the Speakerphone Icon

MiCollab Speakerphone Icon Screen

You told us you want easy, quick access to the speakerphone icon, so we placed the icon in the middle of the screen when calls start and during live calls. Now, you can toggle the speakerphone on/off whenever you want.

ADA/508 Compliance

You told us that ADA/508 compliance was essential to your business. So, we built Job Access with Speech (JAWS) capabilities into MiCollab to “audiblize” the messages and graphics as users navigate their MiCollab application screens.

Automatic Network Detection

You told us that moving between indoors and outdoors during a call impacted your call quality, so we added automatic network detection that selects the strongest network signal, Wi-Fi or cellular, as you move around.

View Call Quality in Real-Time

MiCollab Real Time Call Quality

You wished there was a way to see the call quality of your softphone, so we created a visual display that tracks your voice quality in near real-time, including packet loss, jitter, and latency.

Integrated SMS

MiCollab Desktop App

Texting to a mobile device from a desktop or mobile to leverage MiCollab’s integrated business and personal contact list is fundamental. We’ve integrated SMS into MiCollab to allow you to send and receive texts from within the MiCollab desktop or mobile client.

Your Feedback Makes Us Better

The most crucial thing a communications company can do is listen. By listening to our customers, we’re building a better MiCollab. While this version of MiCollab is our best yet, we know it won’t be the only solution you’ll need for collaboration, so we’ve designed it for that reality.

The key to better collaboration is meeting people wherever they are. The same truth holds for collaboration software. It needs to give organizations the flexibility to choose their ideal collaboration tool to be effective. With your help, we’re building a UC platform designed to unify your world.
