81 % of respondents state that their prime motive when migrating to the cloud is access to innovative functions that are not available via on-site solutions – a marked increase on the previous survey.
For 44 % of companies, the cloud also represents an opportunity to take advantage of new options, whilst keeping control of associated human resource investment (training, hiring of experts). This is particularly true in France and Spain, with 65 % and 69 % of responses respectively mentioning this point.
More broadly, these results indicate that, increasingly, companies are seeking to adopt new technologies and digitally transform their work processes – both internally and externally.
In contrast, the need for agility (16 %) and refocusing on the company’s core knowledge and expertise (14 %) are not the seen as main drivers for cloud adoption by decision makers. Instead, these benefits are seen as consequences of the transition that gives teams and processes greatly improved communications capacity.
