The IronPowered Technology Alliance Program builds on the commercial success that the two companies have established by simplifying the deployment of converged data and Voice over IP (VoIP) networks with the successful completion of interoperability, auto-configuration and security testing between Foundry’s unique Power over Ethernet (PoE) upgradeable switches and Mitel’s enhanced VoIP handsets. Mitel and Foundry provide a multi-layered converged voice and data security strategy with increased manageability through the adoption of new standards-based specifications. Benefits include improved voice quality with superior reliability for an end-to-end converged network solution that provides network and telecommunications operators with an easy-to-install and manage solution.
"Upgrading our gigabit Ethernet to the desktop network to support Power over Ethernet VoIP phones was not only an easy upgrade but it also allowed us to leverage the productivity and cost-savings benefits of converged networking," said Kevin Clark, director of IT operations for Lucasfilm, Ltd. "With our existing Foundry network infrastructure, we installed a simple update to our Mitel phones to enable PoE VoIP capability throughout our distributed multi-site organization."
