The Stevie Awards: Best New Product Service of the Year
July 21, 2010
Mitel Honored in the 2010 International Business Awards(SM)
OTTAWA, ONTARIO, Jul 21, 2010 (Marketwire via COMTEX News Network) -- Mitel® (NASDAQ:MITL), a leading provider of unified communications software solutions, today announced that it has earned a Distinguished Honoree medal in the "Best New Product or Service of the Year - Telecommunications" category of The 2010 International Business Awards for Virtual Mitel Communications Director (Virtual MCD). The International Business Awards are the only global, all-encompassing business awards program honoring great performances in business.
Nicknamed the Stevie® for the Greek word "crowned," the awards and Honorees of the International Business Awards were selected from more than 1,700 entries received from organizations and individuals in more than 40 countries.
Virtual MCD leverages VMware® vSphere™ 4 to enable organizations to consolidate voice applications alongside other business applications in the datacenter. By consolidating data and voice-two previously disparate networks-the overall number of servers can be drastically reduced, enabling savings in both time and capital. Virtual MCD is delivered as a virtual software appliance that provides call control and real-time media streaming support for voice communications and audio conferencing. This technology helps facilitate a low degree of downtime and increased operational efficiency.
"Despite the harsh economic climate, entries to the IBAs actually grew a bit this year, and that illustrates the increasing importance of The International Business Awards worldwide," said Michael Gallagher, president of The Stevie Awards, presenters of the IBAs. "We congratulate all of the honorees, and we look forward to recognizing them for their achievements at our gala awards dinner in Istanbul on September 27."
Organizations all over the world are eligible to compete in The International Business Awards, and can enter in any of more than 40 categories from Multinational Company of the Year and Best New Product of the Year to Corporate Social Responsibility Program of the Year and Executive of the Year.
Honorees were determined through two rounds of judging by professionals worldwide.
"We identified a clear market need prior to developing Virtual MCD: businesses wanted to deploy and maintain voice applications as easily as the other applications in the data center," said Stephen Beamish, vice-president marketing and business development, Mitel. "By virtualizing voice, we've enabled IT managers and CIOs to reduce costs and improve business performance, and our customers are already seeing clear benefits from Virtual MCD."
Stevie Awards are conferred in four programs: The American Business Awards, The International Business Awards, the Stevie Awards for Women in Business, and the Stevie Awards for Sales & Customer Service. Honoring companies of all types and sizes and the people behind them, the Stevies recognize outstanding performances in the workplace worldwide.
