Through Internet2, research and education institutions have partnered with Mitel and Centurylink to offer a customized, better-yielding alternative to traditional voice services.
Internet2 NET+ SIP Services are powered by Mitel's cloud-based, hosted PBX service and Centurylink's SIP-based services with deployment directly on the Internet2 Network.

INTERNET2 NET+ SIP PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Internet2 member institutions created the NET+ SIP Services Program to leverage the collective power of U.S. research and education institutions to create a tailored VoIP solution that helps institutions drive a successful conversion to this better-yielding technology.
 
Two voice services industry leaders, Mitel and Centurylink, power this customized and cost-effective alternative to traditional voice services.
 
The Mitel offering delivers a cloud-based hosted PBX service that also includes unified communications, call center and other services. The Centurylink offering provides SIP-based services such as local trunks, long distance trunks, toll-free, conferencing and other services.
 
These services are based on industry-standard SIP protocols designed to provide flexibility, local control and local survivability, and empower institutions to customize the solution to meet their unique campus needs.
 
In addition, NET+ SIP Services are governed by an Internet2 Program Advisory Group (PAG), who keeps their finger on the pulse of the service and provider relationship—continuing to inform the service development roadmap and provide for the evolving needs of the academic enterprise.
