It is a cost effective solution for connecting multiple conference rooms, home office workers and teams from multiple locations.
The BAS is the heart of the BluStar standalone video conference and collaboration infrastructure. It acts as the command center for the solution providing advanced conferencing and collaboration features such as; bandwidth management, desktop/screen sharing and multi-way conferencing. It comes pre-installed with the Mitel BluStar Application software and is easy to configure and deploy in an IP network.
The advanced design of the BluStar Video Conference and Collaboration solution avoids the need for costly MCUs, reducing overall costs and additionally reducing MCU quality impacting encoding/de-coding and associated increased latency.
The BAS combines with Mitel BluStar endpoints and forms part of the BluStar Ecosystem which is comprised of devices and clients including the award winning Mitel BluStar 8000i Desktop Media phone, BluStar for Conference Room, BluStar for PC, BluStar for iPad and BluStar for iPhone.

Multiple users can take part in a video conference with up to 11 participants appearing on the screen of the BluStar 8000i and BluStar for Conference Room devices at any one time with the remaining users participating via full duplex audio conference – easily swap which participants appear on-screen through the use of simple intuitive touch controls.
PC Desktop Sharing with BluStar Share Application
The BluStar Share Application is a Windows based PC application that works in tandem with BluStar 8000i’s and BluStar for Conference Room to provide desktop sharing features. Optimized Bandwidth Management

Built-in VPN Server
The BluStar Application Server is equipped with an Open Standards based SSL VPN capability that can be administered via the BAS Web user interface without the need for complicated end user configuration changes making remote deployments easy to manage.
Asymmetric Channel Support
Mitel BluStar Application Server supports the ability to have asymmetrical connections where the transmit rate differs from the receive rate. This is especially useful for remote users that typically have high downstream bandwidths and lower upstream bandwidths.

- BAS Server
The Mitel BluStar Application Server (BAS) is the heart of the BluStar standalone video conference and collaboration infrastructure. The BAS acts as the command center for the solution providing advanced conferencing & collaboration features. Based on industrial grade rack mountable INTEL server(s), the BAS is equipped with equipped with quad-core processors, onboard hard disk and DVD/CD drives and internal DDR3 memory. The BAS provides a powerful platform that meets the processing needs of the BluStar Application. The standard server configuration is a single server running the BluStar application firmware.
A High Availability BluStar Application Server configuration (HA BAS) is also available. The HA BAS consists of two identical single node servers networked together via a null modem cable. The HA capability is activated via special configuration of the BluStar Application firmware once the two servers are connected. The HA configuration provides redundancy of servers, system configuration and user data ensuring added reliability for large systems or mission critical deployments.
The BAS comes pre-installed with the Linux operating system and the BluStar application firmware pre-installed. All low level and system level configuration is complete ready for customers to configure to meet their specific needs.
