To configure voice mail synchronization for Blackberry users:
From the navigation tree, click Mailbox Maintenance, and then click Mailboxes.
Search for a specific mailbox or click Show All to see a complete list of mailboxes.
Click a mailbox link OR select a mailbox in the list, and then click Edit > Selected. The Mailbox data view is displayed (Basic view), populated with data for the selected mailbox.
On the General tab, select the Advanced UM Email Blackberry User check box.
Click Save.
Note: Users can also set this option on the Settings tab of the Web View.
Due to delivery delays associated with the IMAP protocol on Blackberry Enterprise Servers, NuPoint UM supports SMTP delivery for Blackberry devices. In most cases, SMTP messages arrive immediately, however, there is a small chance of delay due to virus scanning, anti-spam software, or routing delays. In these cases, the timestamps of the original voice mail and the voice mail audio attachment may not match.
For successful SMTP delivery:
Ensure that the correct Smart Host Domain is configured.
Ensure that your SMTP server can handle large-sized voice mail messages. If the server can only handle small-sized files, synchronization may fail causing all messages to be temporarily deleted.
When an email is successfully received in a user's mailbox, NuPoint UM immediately associates the voice mail message ID to an email ID to provide synchronization. NuPoint UM software polls the email server every three seconds. In the unlikely event that a user receives and deletes an email in that three second interval, NuPoint UM continues to poll the server for an additional 10 minutes, after which the NuPoint UM system issues the following text-based email notifying the user that a voice mail message failed to synchronize:
Subject: Unsynchronized voicemail 257811934 From: [email protected] Content: This is a broadcast email, please do not reply to the sending address. A voicemail message has failed to be synchronized. This can be caused by delays in sending the voicemail through the network. The message can be accessed by calling into your voice mailbox. If you deleted this message already, please allow sufficient time for the message to be synchronized before deletion. |
