Definition |
The dial by name feature allows a user to initiate a call by entering the other party's name, or just the beginning of it, via a standard keypad with letter designations and soft-keys. The feature provides a directory of names with their associated phone numbers. Numbers in the directory can be internal or external. The dial by name feature is only available for the digital phones with a standard keypad with letter designations and soft-keys. The same feature is normally available in the form of contact lists in intelligent telephones. |
Settings |
The names are set by the administrator. |
Procedure and function |
The digital phone user interface allows searching in the name list by use of the keypad and soft-keys. Two of the soft-keys are used to scroll up or down in the list and one soft-key is used to execute the call when the requested name is found. |
