Heartbeat Ping to SLS

System Feature

Definition

The Heartbeat ping to SLS is a periodic message sent once a month to the SLS license center, identifying the sending system, and thus informing SLS that the system is "alive". A prerequisite is that network connection exists to the SLS. For customers who cannot accept online connection, the feature shall be turned off.

Settings

Default is that the feature is on/active, if the SLS is reachable online. Heartbeat ping configuration can be done by the administrator via installation/upgrade scripts.

Procedure and function

The periodic Heartbeat ping to SLS is automatic, unless it is manually turned off by an administrator. There are dedicated I/O-commands (license_sls) to turn the feature on/off, and to print status. There is a specific alarm (1:60) SLS Heartbeat failure which is generated after three failed send attempts.
