Anti-virus Policy
Virus attacks on IS/IT infrastructure are becoming increasingly frequent, making a robust anti-virus policy essential for any security strategy. Developing such a policy is the responsibility of the IS/IT system administrator. Mitel, as a supplier of equipment that could be targeted by viruses, ensures that their products are compatible with existing anti-virus policies in the IT environment.
The MX-ONE Service Node runs on Linux OS, which has traditionally been less susceptible to virus attacks. However, there is a slight risk of viruses targeting Linux OS, so installing anti-virus software on the MX-ONE Service Node is an option.
Mitel does not provide or recommend any anti virus applications with MX-ONE.
Stop the anti-virus service when upgrading the MX-ONE.
Run updates during low traffic periods.
Increase swap size on the MX-ONE Service Node to match demand.
On-access real-time anti-virus scanning is CPU and memory intensive. To avoid performance degradation, consider scanning only a subset of files (e.g., user directories). Including logging directories in the scan list may impact performance.
