Allocation of external call numbers to internal users
Internal users can also be called internally using their external call number provided both call numbers are entered in the allocation table. This allows users to be selected using the same contact entry in an address book. The external call number must be entered in canonical format.
In the allocation table each external call number is allocated to an internal call number. When an internal user dials an external call number listed in canonical format in the allocation table, the call is routed to the internal user using the allocated internal call number. Example of an allocation entry:
External call number: +41775115617
Internal destination: 5617
A call to the following call numbers (excerpt) is routed to internal destination 5617:
000775115617
00775115617 (provided 41 is entered as the country code in the country settings)
10775115617 (exchange access, private)
13xx775115617 (cost centre selection)
170775115617 (route selection)
+41775115617 (canonical format)
- You can assign several external call numbers to the same internal call number, but not vice versa.
- You can use the call numbers of internal users or user groups as internal destinations.
When entering the external call number manually, you need to enter it using call preparation.
Creating call number ranges using placeholders
You can use placeholders to map a number range using a single entry. Take note of the following rules:
Use the letter “x” (upper or lower case) as a placeholder. Each x stands for a digit from 0 to 9
An internal destination may not contain placeholders only (“xx” is not permitted)
A call number has to start with at least one digit (“xx” is not permitted).
Placeholders must come at the end of the call number (“4x4” is not permitted)
External call number and internal destination must always have the same number of placeholders.
External call number |
Internal Destination |
Result |
+41 77 511 561x |
382x |
10 external call numbers are routed to 10 internal destinations. |
+41 77 511 565xx |
21xx |
100 external call numbers are routed to 100 internal destinations (5500 -> 2100; 5501 -> 2101;...) |
You can also define exceptions within a number range by entering individual call numbers individually:
External call number |
Internal Destination |
Result |
+41 77,511 55xx |
21xx |
5500 -> 2100; 5501 -> 2101;... 5554 -> 2154; 5555 -> 5000 (exception); 5556 -> 2156;... |
+41 77 511 5555 |
5000 |

Exporting and importing allocation table data
Allocation table data is part of the Excel export file and can also be edited externally. The export file contains a specific spreadsheet for this (Ext.-int. mapping). For more details please refer to "Importing and exporting configuration data".
