Registering Mitel BluStar for PC

The configuration and registration of a Mitel BluStar for PC softphone on the communication server differ from the registration of a Mitel SIP phone.

Preliminary operations with WebAdmin

  1. Check whether a free BluStar Softphones or BluStar Softphone Video Options licence is available.

  2. Open a new user or select an existing user.

  3. Create for the user a Windows user name and define a PIN or password.

  4. Open the Multimedia register and select under BluStar the Softphone checkbox.

  5. Click the Apply button.

A BluStar for PC type terminal has now been assigned to the user.

  6. Click the terminal and complete other settings as needed.

Installing the softphone

  1. Copy Mitel BluStar for PC from the download server and unzip the zip file to a network drive to which all client PCs have access.

The advantage of installing the clients from a network drive is that you only have to change the files on the network drive during a software update. When the application is started, the clients check whether there is new software on the network drive and automatically run the update.

  2. On a client PC start installing the softphones by double-clicking the file “BluStarClientSetup.exe“ then follow the installation instructions.

The softphone is now installed on the PC.

Registering the softphone

  1. Start the softphone on the client PC.

  2. In the start window, enter the registration data you specified during preliminary work at the user's (Windows user name and PIN or password).

  3. Under configuration server replace the entry <Mitel 400 IP> with the IP address of your communication server. (Example: http://192.168.104.100/bsc)

The softphone registers with the communication server.

  4. Under options, configure the audio and video devices as well as other user-specific settings.
