Explanation

SWA state

Information about the current SWA state with further references, such as the

SWA expiry date.

SWA covered users

Shows the number of users covered via SWA.

Configured users

Shows the users configured in the communication server. SWA becomes invalid if the number of configured users exceeds the number of users covered via SWA.

Providing the system software and licence file

The new system software and the relevant licence file are provided by your sales dealer. In most cases you will download the software from an internet site specified by your sales partner. You will also receive a voucher. With this you can generate the new licence file through the Mitel Connect internet portal https://miaccess.mitel.com and transmit it to your communication system. You need a login to access Mitel Connect (user name and password).

Load new system software

Note:

Make sure that the communication server’s date and time match your environment’s current data. If not, the activation time for the new system software will differ from the time you want; alternatively the activation may not take place at all. You can use the current date and time from your PC in the Configuration / System / General view under Date and time.

  1. Upload the new licence file under System overview / Licences.

You can also install and start up the new software without uploading the licence file. However, once you have started to use the software you will need uploading the licence file within 4 hours; otherwise the communication server will switch over to the restricted operating mode. In this mode, only the basic functions of the communication server are available.

  2. Click the Browse... button and select the software package you want to load (.zip file).

The name of the software package, including path, is displayed.

  3. Indicate under Activation time whether you wish to activate  the new application software for the communication system in Upload only, Immediately or in Scheduled mode.

  4. Click Upload or Upload and update.

The software package is downloaded. This may take a few minutes due to the large volume of data involved. Leave the browser window open at this time. Once the software package has been downloaded, a new view appears.

  5. If you have only uploaded the software package, it is now stored in the internal file system. If you have not started any update, you can also Delete the uploaded software package again and Upload another one. Take the steps described in Points 3 and 4 when you wish. Then click Update.

Note:

A new browser window opens. You can follow the progress of the update process in it.

Upload software package

Update system software (approx. 15 minutes)

Restart communication server (approx. 15 minutes)

Update web software (approx. 25 minutes)

Note:
  • Never disconnect the communication server from the power supply during the update process. This may prevent executable system software from being available on the communication server, and make an EUL (Emergency Upload) necessary.
  • After the new system software is activated the old system software is automatically deleted from the file system.
  • In an AIN the new system software can only be uploaded to the satellite.  The activation time on the satellites always depends on the master's demand.

Emergency Upload

An Emergency Upload must be activated whenever a standard software upload is not possible, has proved faulty or to replace a Flash card. For this, you need the search and help tool System Search Search and help tool System Search.

Loading an older software state (downgrade)

To load an older system software, you must carry out an Emergency Upload. For this, you need the search and help tool System Search Search and help tool System Search.

Newly added communication servers can be addressed directly with System Search and opened with WebAdmin. Moreover, you can use System Search to perform an Emergency Upload or to downgrade the system.

System Search is available on the Mitel download server.
