Incoming call routing - graphical overview

Lets you specify the call routing using a graphical overview. You configure the individual routing elements, thereby specifying the routing course.

Routing elements

The purpose of the routing element is to distribute incoming and outgoing calls to their destinations. Various call scenarios can be configured thanks to the large number of configuration possibilities. However, the standard configuration must be chosen in such a way that only a few settings must be modified for a standard call scenario.

Parameter

Explanation

Network interfaces

The network interfaces provide the access to the communication server. The settings for the network interfaces are used to specify network-specific properties (e.g. point-to-point or point-to-multipoint connection, the assignment of B channel groups at the primary rate interface or the access configuration to an SIP provider).

Trunk group

The trunk group configuration determines the connection properties of the network interfaces connected to the communication server. A trunk group groups together the network interfaces of the same type (trunk group type).

In the WebAdmin standard mode the trunk groups are configured automatically and are not displayed.

Direct Dialling Plans

Direct dialling is used to reach internal destinations directly from the public network. For this purpose the incoming call number is linked with a specific call distribution element based on its DDI element.

Routes

All outgoing calls are routed to a trunk group via a route. They also include calls routed via the Least Cost Routing function and transit calls in a networked system.

Call Distribution Elements

The call distribution elements are used to route an incoming call to a unique destination or a combination of destinations (e.g. a user group and a user at the same time).

Each call distribution element has three states (switch positions) and you can define different destinations for each of them. The current switch position is determined by the allocated switch group.

In the WebAdmin standard mode the call distribution elements are configured automatically and are not displayed.

User groups

In the user group, calls to a group are routed by internal destinations. The type of call distribution (global, linear, cyclic) can be configured.

Routing itinerary for incoming calls

The routing course of an incoming call begins at the network interface on the left in the graphical overview, passes through the various routing elements and ends on the right at the user.

Default call routing: In the standard configuration, all calls are routed to user group 16. The first four users created are automatically entered as user group members.

Call routing without DDI: A call without matching DDI is routed directly to the call destination via the call distribution element assigned in the trunk group.

Routing itinerary for outgoing calls

The routing itinerary of an outgoing call begins at the user (on the right in the graphical overview), passes the route and is routed to the public or private network via the trunk group and the network interface.
