Importing and exporting configuration data
You are setting up a new communication server and wish to collect and read the basic data in an Excel table, or you wish to read the configuration data of another communication system, or you wish to edit and extend an existing configuration with the help of an Excel table.
With the export and import function you can create, edit and again read a Microsoft Excel file.
Below are the general instructions on how to perform this task. Please read carefully and observe the safety guidelines contained therein before importing the configuration data.
You have the possibility to edit various configuration data outside WebAdmin, or to import configuration data from other MiVoice Office 400 communication systems. Here you can create, with the help of the export function, a specific Excel file hereinafter referred to as Export file. The export file contains several spreadsheets. Each sheet covers a specific configuration area. Subsequently, edit then re-import the export file. Only the data belonging to the view, on which you have activated the import function, will be imported.
Example: The import function in the Phone book / Public view imports only the data from the export file located on the spreadsheet Abbreviated dialling list.
Exception: The import function in the Backup view imports the data in all spreadsheets.
You have the possibility to complete or replace the existing configuration with the importing of the edited export file.
Completing the configuration
Use this import variant to complete existing configuration data or to replace individual entries. Please note the following:
The items added to the export file (new lines) are transferred to the configuration, considering the system limits.
The entries modified in the export file are transferred to the configuration. The existing entry is overwritten.
Entries not modified in the export file are not taken into consideration during import and also remain unchanged in the configuration.
Existing relations remain unchanged (e.g. the assignment of a phone to a user).
Empty fields in the export file are not taken into account during import.
Overview of exportable and importable parameters
To have an overview of exportable and importable parameters, simply create an export file as described in the Instructions section.
Replacing a configuration
During import only replace the configuration data if you wish to set up the system from scratch, since the entire existing data is replaced. Observe the safety guidelines in the User Guide and in the “Instructions” section.
Exporting, editing and re-importing configuration data
Replace the configuration data only if you are setting up the communication server from scratch. This action deletes all previously configured user data and all user associated settings such as DDI numbers, CDE targets, user group entries, assigned phones, configured keys, etc.
To do so proceed as follows:
Exporting data
Create a configuration data backup file.
Browse to the view the data of which you wish to edit outside WebAdmin.
Data can only be exported from views which have an export and import button.
Create an export file by clicking the Export button.
The entire exportable communication server data is read out in an Excel file, the so-called export file.
Save the export file and make a copy of it.
Open the copy and complete the configuration data in the corresponding spreadsheet.
Store the edited file.
If you wish to process the data in all spreadsheets, remain in the Backup view and click Export all data using the Excel export template. If not, proceed as described above.
Importing data and completing existing configuration
In the corresponding WebAdmin view, click the Import button.
Leave the Complete existing configuration checkbox unticked
.Choose the export file from your storage device and click OK.
After a safety prompt, which you must close, the data of the corresponding spreadsheet is imported. No existing configuration data is deleted in this process.
If you wish to import the data in all spreadsheets, remain in the Backup view and click Import all data from the import file. If not, proceed as described above.
Importing data and replacing existing configuration
In the corresponding WebAdmin view, click the Import button.
Tick the Replace existing configuration checkbox
.Choose the export file from your storage device and click OK.
After a safety prompt, which you must close, the data of the corresponding spreadsheet is imported.
If you wish to import the data in all spreadsheets, remain in the Backup view and click Import all data from the import file. If not, proceed as described above.
Use this import function variant only if you are setting up the communication server from scratch. With this action the already configured data and related settings are deleted!
If you export data with this variant and then import it again without any changes, all data-related settings are reset to the default values, and all your settings lost.
