Putting IP system phones in the AIN into operation

In AIN mode all the IP system phones are logged on to the Master and are controlled by it. For this reason they must also be configured and registered with the Master.

Phones located in the vicinity of a satellite can also be set up so that they automatically log on with the satellite in offline mode. For this you must set up these phones for the master and satellites.

Conditions for operation in satellite offline mode

The following conditions must be met in order to also use an IP system phone in offline mode:

  • The phone must be configured and registered on both the Master and on the satellite you want.

  • Enough VoIP channels must also be available on the satellite for offline operation mode.

  • IP system phone and satellite must be connected to the Master via the same WAN link.

  • The satellite and not the Master's IP address must be stored on the IP system phone.

Logon procedure in AIN operating mode

When the IP system phone restarts, it tries to log on to the satellite. The satellite forwards the phone’s request to the Master and the IP system phone logs on to the Master.

Switching to offline mode

After contact with the Master is lost, the satellite and the IP system phone restart. As soon as the satellite has adopted the offline mode, the IP system phone can log itself on. The satellite then controls it during offline operation.

Switching to AIN mode

After contact with the Master is restored, the satellite runs a restart and starts in AIN mode. The IP system phone loses contact with the satellite, restarts and logs on again to the Master via the satellite. You can also run the restart manually if you do not want to wait for the timeout of the connection monitors.

You want to set up the IP system phones on the Master for AIN operation and on the satellites for the offline mode in an AIN. For this, log the IP phones on to the satellite first and then on to the Master.

Preparations

  1. Set the satellite to offline operation mode "Satellite in Offline Mode".

  2. Create the IP terminal data in both the Master and the satellites.

Log the phones on to the satellite

  1. Start the satellite in offline mode by disconnecting the Master from the IP network and restarting the satellite.

  2. Connect the first IP system phone to the mains supply and to the IP network.

  3. In the local configuration "Local phone configuration" of the phone, enter the satellite IP address under PBX address"Addressing IP system phones manually".

  4. Restart the phone then register it with the satellite "Registering IP system phones on the communication server".

  5. Repeat the procedure in sequence from step 2 for all the other IP system phones.

Log the phones on to the Master

  1. Disconnect the IP system phones on the satellites you have just set up from the IP network.

  2. Connect the Master to the IP network.

The satellite restarts and starts up in AIN operation mode.

  3. Connect the first IP system phone to the IP network.

The phone tries to log on to the satellite. The satellite forwards the request to the master.

  4. Register the IP system phone now with the master "Registering IP system phones on the communication server" .

  5. Repeat the procedure in sequence from step 3 for all the IP system phones.
