SIP Trunking Notes and Best Practices

Use this section to document operational limits and verification steps that apply to SIP connectivity for Unify Phone.

Notes and best practices

  • SIP trunking is supported for MiVoice 5000 and MiVoice Business (MiVB) PBXs.
  • The FQDN/IP Address field is automatically populated from the system inventory but can be edited for custom configurations.
  • The TLS Port value must match the PBX listening port configured for secure SIP traffic.
  • SIP trunks can be renamed after creation. For detailed steps, see Renaming a SIP Trunk.
  • Only administrators with Edit permissions can add, modify, or delete trunks. Administrators with View permissions can view configuration details only.

Renaming a SIP Trunk

You can rename an existing SIP trunk from the Accounts app.

To rename a trunk:
  1. Go to Integrations > Unify Phone > SIP Connectivity.
  2. In the SIP Trunks list, select the trunk you want to rename by checking its box.
Note: Only one trunk can be selected at a time.
  3. Click Edit.
  4. The Edit SIP Trunk section appears below the list.
  5. Modify the trunk name or other details as needed.
  6. Click Save.
Verifying trunk status:
  1. Go to Integrations > Unify Phone > SIP Connectivity.
  2. Confirm that the trunk appears in the list with the correct PBX, FQDN/IP, and status.
  3. If a trunk shows as inactive, verify the following:
    • PBX firewall and NAT settings.
    • TLS port configuration.
    • DNS resolution (if FQDN is used).
Note:
  • The user interface does not display an explicit Inactive indicator for SIP trunks. To confirm activity status, check the PBX firewall, NAT, or SIP logs for connectivity.
  • Use the Search bar or column sorting options to quickly locate a trunk.
