Cookies

What is a Cookie?

A "cookie" is a small text file that is transferred to your computer or device to keep track of your interests, location, device type, and preferences and recognize you as a return visitor to our Sites and/or 3rd party sites.

Typically, cookies do not directly store personal information, but are based on uniquely identifying your browser and Internet device.

Cookies may be temporary (session cookies) or permanent (persistent cookies).

Our use of Cookies

Our Sites uses both Mitel (first party) and third-party cookies such as those from our advertising partners to distinguish you from other Internet users including other users of our Sites. Mitel cookies are controlled by Mitel and only operate within our domain. Third-party cookies are not controlled by Mitel and may track your activities across the Internet. You can find a list of the specific Mitel and third-party cookies we use below.

For details on what information is collected by any of these 3rd party cookies, what it is used for, who it is shared with, and how long it is retained, please see the cookie provider's privacy/cookie policy.

Cookies used on our Sites can be broken down into the following types:

· Strictly Necessary Cookies. These are cookies that are required for the operation of our Sites and cannot be switched off.

· Performance Cookies. These cookies allow us to recognize visitors to our Sites, count them, and understand how they: (i) came to our Sites and (ii) move around our Sites once there. Performance cookies help us improve the way our Sites work, for example, by ensuring that you are finding what you are looking for easily.

· Functionality Cookies. These cookies are used to recognize you when you return to our Sites. This enables us to personalize our content, greet you by name and remember your preferences (for example, your choice of language or region).

· Targeting Cookies. These cookies record your Internet activity including specific pages you have visited, and links you have followed and often build a profile on you for advertising purposes. We may use these cookies to:

i.   to better understand the demographics of who is on our Sites

ii.  to enable sharing of our content across networks (e.g., LinkedIn, Facebook)

iii. to advertise our products to you when you visit third party websites or social media

iv.  measure the effectiveness of our advertising

v.   to collect inferred information about your interests, including interest in our products and services as well as those of our partners and/or other third parties.

Mitel does not have direct access to information collected by third party cookies and can only access information which the cookie developer has made available to us.

Cookie Duration

Mitel cookies remain on your computer for as long as necessary to accomplish their intended purpose. This could mean that some are only there during your session while others last for 30 days. The maximum allowed by most major browsers is 400 days. Mitel does not control the duration of 3rd party cookies. For 3rd party cookie retention information, see the 3rd party cookie provider’s website.

Cookie Management

Most web browsers automatically accept cookies and similar technologies, but if you prefer, you can change your browser to prevent acceptance of cookies or to notify you when you receive a cookie, giving you the chance to decide whether to accept it. Please refer to your browser's privacy or help documentation.

You can manage (e.g., opt out of or opt into our use of) the cookies served on our Sites by accessing our Privacy Preference Center from the Icon in the bottom left of your screen when on our Sites. If the use of all cookies is denied, we will set a single cookie that enforces this selection.

If you disable your web browser's cookies and other tracking technologies, certain features of our Sites may be disabled and you may limit the functionality we can provide when you visit our Sites and may negatively impact your ability to use, or the performance of, our Sites.

Web beacons, Local Storage and Fingerprinting

What are Web beacons, Local storage and Fingerprinting?

Functions usually performed by a cookie can also be achieved by Web beacons, Local storage and Fingerprinting (“Similar Technologies”) all of which can be used to uniquely identify devices so that visits to a website(s) or across the Internet can be tracked and analyzed.

Web beacons identify a visitor by downloading an invisible pixel or a visible pixel (e.g., a banner from a server). Fingerprinting combines a set of information elements presented to the server when the web page is requested to uniquely identify a visitor. Local Storage stores information on your local device for your browser to access when visiting a website. This is usually information that helps speed up the load time and usability of a website.

Similar to cookies, similar technology does not typically store personal information directly, but are based on uniquely identifying your browser and internet device. Similar Technologies do not always require files to be stored on your computer.

Our Use of Web beacons, Local storage and Fingerprinting

Similar to our cookies use, we use Similar Technologies, including those from third parties such as our advertising partners, to distinguish you from other Internet users including other users of our Sites.

Similar technologies are used for similar reasons to those described under Performance, Functionality, and Tracking Cookies above.

Our Email

Emails we send you (either directly or through our third-party services providers) may contain small electronic files known as web beacons (also referred to as tracking pixels, clear gifs, pixel tags, and single-pixel gifs) that are automatically downloaded and provide us information about how you interact with our email, if at all. For example, the web beacon may tell us when you receive our email, when you open the email, how many times, and if you click on the call to action(s). We may also track if you click any other link in the email. This allows us to gauge your interest in, and the effectiveness of our communications and marketing campaigns.
