This June, Mitel reached a milestone anniversary of 50 years, and we celebrated the occasion with our annual #MitelServes Month of Service. Mitel Serves is how we show up for our local communities and each other year-round, but in June, our teams go above and beyond to make our anniversary month our annual volunteerism month, too.
For every Month of Service, we encourage our teams to embrace the #MitelServes spirit, providing multiple opportunities to volunteer with organizations dedicated to helping their communities locally and globally. One of our core tenets is “Powering Connections,” and we use our anniversary month as a chance to connect with our communities on a deeper level and do some good.
In line with our 50th anniversary, Mitel’s 2023 goal is to support at least 50 charities. Our teams worldwide volunteered with many organizations over our golden anniversary month and made a significant difference in the lives of many touched by the organizations’ missions.
Here are some of our favorite #MitelServes moments:
Our team in India volunteered with the SankalpTaru Foundation, a non-profit organization that initiates, develops, and manages reforestation and environmental conservation projects across India. The organization promotes sustainable development and preserves the natural environment through community engagement, education, and innovative techniques.
Thirty Mitel employees joined the foundation for a tree plantation activity, planting 50 saplings at Hullegowdana Halli Village, Bengaluru, and mobilizing to help the environment.
The Mitel India team participated in a voluntary blood donation drive in collaboration with Bangalore Medical Services Trust, a center of excellence in blood banking, transfusion, and immunohematology.
We are proud of the 50 team members who participated in the blood drive and positively impacted community health.
Our Plano, Texas team volunteered at Minnie's Food Pantry. This non-profit organization helps provide meals and supplies for families in need in North Texas and has given over 15 million healthy meals to needy families.
The team helped by sorting through donations and preparing food boxes for the next day. They also worked in the boutique by stocking diapers, and clothing, organizing the merchandise, and pricing items.
Our Czech Republic employees were excited to volunteer again at ZOO Mala Chuchle. This non-profit organization supports rescued wild animals that cannot be released back into the wild.
Seventeen employees from our team put in 51 hours of work, helping with tasks such as painting wooden fences, cutting hedges, harvesting branches to feed deer and moufflons, cleaning animal enclosures, and much more.
Our Kanata team continued the yearly tradition of volunteering with Christie Lake Kids Camp, whose mission is to enrich the lives and prospects of economically disadvantaged children by providing quality year-round community and camp programs to develop physical, social, and character skills.
Our Mitel staff members took tasks like beautifying the camp, painting, cleaning cabins, and much more to prepare for the busy summer camp season.
For our month of service, the Kanata Social Committee laced up their runners and took off for The Royal's Ottawa Run for Women. The race supported gender-specific mental health research and care at the Royal, Canada's foremost mental health care, teaching, and research hospitals.
Over $245,336 CAD was raised for local women’s mental health programs from all participants, including Mitel’s team. Thank you to our team for being part of the 2,678 participants that rallied together for mental health.
Many more of our team members across the globe participated in our Month of Service, celebrating #50YearsOfMitel virtually. In collaboration with Goodera, teams created cards with Little Brothers – Friends of the Elderly in San Francisco, an organization that brings people together and works to reduce isolation and loneliness among older adults. We also created educational quiz cards about the history of Pride for the Center for Black Equity, a non-profit committed to improving the lives of Black LGBTQ+ people globally by focusing on economic, social, and health equity.
Thank you to everyone for dedicating their time and supporting their communities in June. Opportunities to get involved with Mitel Serves continue all year, and we are excited to offer more virtual volunteering opportunities through 2023.
To keep up with what our employees are doing to help support their communities and bring about positive change through the rest of our 50th year, check out the #MitelServes hashtag on LinkedIn.
