Security, Strength, and the Future: A Telecom Celebration at Framtidens Kommunikation 2025

In the Swedish telecom world, Framtidens Kommunikation (the Future of Communications) is the biggest day of the year, and the 2025 conference lived up to its reputation as the place to celebrate unified communications (UC) and customer experience (CX) excellence.

The event was undeniably successful, hosted by the Jacy’z Hotel and Resort in Gothenburg from May 20 – 21. With the largest turnout since the pandemic, more than 200 Nordic customers, partners, consultants, and Mitel experts joined to mingle and network in an informal setting.

The overall theme of the 26th Framtidens Kommunikation Conference was “Business-Critical Communication – With a Focus on Security,” but as the event unfolded, strength and a look to the future received just as much attention as security. And, as usual, the food and entertainment didn’t disappoint either!

A Secure Start: Mitel Leaders Set the Tone for 2025

Claes Kolare, Managing Director of Mitel Sweden, kicked off this year’s conference with a keynote speech that directly aligned with the focus on security. He discussed how many Nordic organizations want to switch from global public cloud services to more secure European, private, or on-premises UC cloud deployments – a key element of Mitel’s new strategic mission.

Now, I always say that with greater security comes strength. And Thomas Veit, Vice President, Northern Region Mitel, confirmed just how strong Mitel is looking when he took the stage to discuss what independent analysts are saying about our 2024 acquisition of Unify.

The responses are overwhelmingly positive and highlight the bright future ahead. Analyst quotes like these speak for themselves:

  • “The acquisition has strengthened Mitel’s position as a leader in UC.”
  • “Mitel has become an indispensable provider of critical communications solutions for relevant verticals.”
  • “Acquiring Unify brings together the two leading players in UC with a large existing customer base and a robust managed services offering.”

Speaking of strength, there’s nothing quite as strong as the global Mitel User Group (MUG). And the members in attendance were very familiar with the next speaker, Bob Baddeley, the former MUG president. He spoke persuasively about the benefits of being a member of the global user association and joining the local branch, the Nordic Chapter.

Dual members enjoy the bonus of networking with a larger group of peers and partners, gain early insights into important news, and can influence future development. Bob also raved about other MUG perks, including in-person events (like this one), live and on-demand webinars, and the Education and Training Hub, which provides direct access to training and the latest product updates.

Building Unbreakable Communications

Extending the security theme, Marcus Bramlöv of Redway underscored the importance of ensuring organizations have robust UC and CX platforms to prepare for real-world crises. For instance, businesses need a secondary access point in critical situations like hospital outages or damaged undersea internet cables. With secure and redundant systems in place, they can maintain uninterrupted service.

Bramlov cautioned attendees to have communications solutions that are adaptable in real-time, with comprehensive crisis plans and alternative working methods and routines for emergencies. He closed with the advice: “Var inte rädd, var beredd” – “Don’t be afraid, be prepared.”

In the afternoon, attendees browsed the exhibitions and demonstrations at their leisure. Meanwhile, parallel seminar sessions offered something for everyone, from contact centers, UC, apps, and telephone solutions to artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT).

The day ended with good food, entertainment, and fun conversations with new friends. And, finally, everyone let loose with some fun drinks and dancing!

A Look to the Future: Tomorrow’s Tech and Today’s Takeaways

As we convened for day two, much was to be said about the “Workplace of the Future.” Nicklas Hermansson, the futurist and technology expert for Swedish Television, opened with “NOMO FOMO”: a compelling vision of how the world will work in 2049 and what we need to do today to avoid missing out tomorrow.

Hermansson took us on a breathtaking journey through time, illustrating the need to make the right decisions today to have the keys and tools to succeed. He emphasized that many paradigm shifts, like sustainable energy, mobile phones, or the digital revolution, take years, so the time to prepare is now.

Then, before we knew it, it was time for a crowd favorite: MiCCE’s Corner, hosted by Mikael Altinger, Mitel Nordics sales manager. For this year’s roundtable discussion, three of our customers took center stage to discuss how they’ve effectively deployed the Mitel MiContact Center Enterprise (MiCCE) solution in their organizations to help them build a secure and stronger tomorrow.

Carina Bergström, a representative from Krokom Municipality, talked about how they successfully modernized their existing Avaya UC system to MiCCE with MiVoice MX-ONE for eight municipalities and a regional emergency hospital.

Nichlas Rinde, telecom manager at Motorit AB, described how well MiCCE works for their 1,600-agent contact center, most of whom are car mechanics. He also talked about how Mitel makes managing long (700!) queues possible and how his company looks forward to additional functionality and development as Mitel innovates.

Finally, Robert Beiron of Scania Group reflected on a recent power outage in Spain and Portugal, illustrating how they secured operations and communications during the crisis, trusting MiVoice MX-ONE to keep everything up and running. He also provided insights into how the organization plans to use AI and the proof of concept they have initiated with Mitel and ASC Technologies.

The Verdict Is In: Framtidens Kommunikation 2025 Was a Hit

We think Framtidens Kommunikation 2025 was a wild success, but don’t take our word for it! Here are some reviews from happy attendees (and Mitel customers) of this year’s conference.

  • “Every time, I feel I have gained something new and interesting to use in my business.”
  • “The presentation on AI showed that Mitel is way ahead in this area.”
  • “Great! Completely in line with the high standard we've come to expect from Mitel!”

I’d like to thank all our customers, consultants, and partners who contributed to this fantastic event. Plans for the Framtidens Kommunikation 2026 are already in the works – I look forward to seeing everyone again next May.

Vi ses igen nästa år – See you next year!
