Welcome to our latest edition of the Mitel news recap. While many of us took time for rest and relaxation over the past few months, the updates and insights kept coming from Mitel. In this issue, we welcome new members to Mitel’s board and unveil the innovative companies taking part in the Mitel UC accelerator powered by L-SPARK. Our experts also dive into topics ranging from building trust in the era of AI to what’s on the mind of channel leaders heading into the last few months of 2025.

In July, Mitel officially named its new board of directors, led by Tony Abate as chair. Following Mitel’s successful restructuring, the board has been tasked with providing strategic direction as the company continues to focus on its strategy to meet the rising demand for hybrid communications and drive long-term, sustainable growth. As Comms Dealers outlines, this new leadership team brings a diverse range of expertise to the table.
The Mitel Unified Communications Accelerator powered by L-SPARK marked a major milestone in August when eight companies were invited to participate in the program. The Tehrani on Tech blog was one of the outlets that picked up the news, looking at the companies taking part and the benefits the accelerator provides. For a deeper look at how Mitel sees this program driving innovation in specific sectors, watch this interview our CTO, Luiz Domingos, did with analyst Shelly Kramer.
Luiz also took time last month to share his thoughts on the changing role of the CTO. As he writes in his first post as an official member of the Forbes Technology Council, the role is evolving rapidly as AI spurs change across organizations. CTOs now find themselves taking on an expanded portfolio, including oversight of trust, security, and ethical AI practices. With growing concerns about data privacy and algorithmic bias, companies recognize the need for dedicated leadership to navigate these challenges and ensure responsible usage of AI systems.
A new year might be on the horizon, but tech leaders still have plenty on their to-do list for 2025. To get a sense of what might be on their minds, Channel Insider reached out to leaders from channel-focused vendors, including Mitel’s Steve Loebrich, to see what they are prioritizing in the second half of 2025. He emphasized Mitel’s ongoing commitment to providing a modern partner experience and working closely with partners to deploy emerging technologies such as AI in ways that add value.
Speaking of security, Mitel’s Chief Information Security Officer, Bill Dunnion, recently sat down with Safety Detectives to discuss his role and the evolving landscape of cybersecurity. He shares his perspectives on current threats, the importance of a proactive security strategy, and the need for continuous innovation in security practices to keep pace with emerging technologies and any associated risks.
Finally, Mitel CX has secured an industry honor for the second time in as many months. TMC has named it a 2025 Contact Center Technology Award winner. Presented by CUSTOMER magazine, the awards honor vendors and technologies that have embraced technology as a key tool for customer service excellence.
