The University of Liverpool

Placed in the top 1% of the world’s universities, the University of Liverpool needed to upgrade their aging and expensive legacy Siemens ISDX telephony system. Their new communications solutions needed to provide a high level of scalability and resiliency, and the phased migration had to go smoothly. To accomplish all of this, they turned to Mitel.

“The University network has undergone a £5 million upgrade," said Telecoms Manager Graeme Roberts, "that has allowed us to migrate our communications system from the traditional copper cable telephony system to this enhanced network. We can also, at some point, choose to have the phone system hosted as a cloud option, which would not have been possible with the old system.”

Goals
  • Upgrade to a modern system that's more cost-effective to run and maintain
  • Improve resiliency to reduce downtime
  • Boost scalability to enable future growth
Results
  • Highly scalable, resilient unified communications solution
  • Reduced operating and management costs
  • Greater functionality
  • Enhanced collaboration, driving productivity and efficiency
  • Improved customer experience
