Last week was a great week for Mitel. At the Mitel Next Americas event in Phoenix, AZ, we engaged with hundreds of partners and customers about the future of business communications and how it will continue to positively impact productivity across industries. We heard from customers that included the San Francisco Giants, City of Baltimore, Secura Insurance and Massey Services about the pace at which they are gaining access to more and more applications in the cloud.
These examples and the crowd’s reaction to the latest innovations in our lab made one thing clear: our strategy is spot-on in striving to be the partner that businesses count on for choice in transitioning to (and taking advantage of) the cloud, as they look to drive productivity across their organizations.
Nothing was more apparent than the fact that digital transformation is real. Every attendee experienced it firsthand. The cloud is the great enabler, but transformation happens when links to communications and collaboration applications that allow people to do much more than they could do previously are established. And it’s happening — group by group, business by business.
As you read headlines about digital transformation permeating every industry, consider the invigoration it has provided. The last time we saw this kind of global-scale rallying around a technology initiative was Y2K. Y2K drove an exponential technology shift — albeit a one-time shift.
Since then, there have been a lot of great innovations. In my view, however, they have largely resulted in incremental improvements. Digital transformation and the move to the cloud is driving exponential improvements, and it will be going on for decades to come.
As I continue to reflect on the week, one word comes to mind: validation. Validation that everything is moving to the cloud. Validation that digital transformation is real and delivering productivity gains. Validation that UCaaS adoption is accelerating, and validation that traditional unified communications is moving fast to the cloud. Ultimately, validation that everything about our strategy is lining up and what remains is for us to execute at full throttle.
